Counterfeit notes drop by 15 per cent

The volume of counterfeit money collected through the banking system and state treasury fell by 15.55 per cent compared to the same period last year, according to the State Bank of Viet Nam.

The central bank said that counterfeit money was easily recognisable by sight and touch, and urged the public to be careful about cash transactions.

Tien Giang attracts $661m in investment

The Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta province of Tien Giang this year has attracted 11 projects with total investment worth VND13.93 trillion ($661 million).

Two large industrial zones and four small industrial zones in the province are nearly full of operating companies. For the 2014-2015 period, the province is calling for investment for 24 projects with total investment of VND45 trillion.

Gov't approves plan to promote local goods

The Government has approved a programme worth more than VND228 billion ($10.82 million) to spur domestic consumption and the purchase of Vietnamese-made goods in the 2014-2020 period.

The State budget will cover 60 per cent of the more than VND76 billion ($3.6 million) planned for this year and 2015. The programme aims to increase the market share of Vietnamese products in rural and remote areas to 70 per cent next year.
