Can Tho seeks to open seven air routes

The Can Tho City People's Committee has asked four airlines to open seven new flight routes, connecting Can Tho International Airport with airports in Da Nang, Cam Ranh and Lien Khuong as well as airports in Cambodia, Thailand, South Korea and Taiwan.

The committee invited Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air, Eva and a Thai airline to open the routes.

The Can Tho International Airport, which opened in 2010, serves two flights between Can Tho and Ha Noi and one flight to Phu Quoc each day.

The flights to Con Dao and Taiwan run only during the Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday.

13,000 enterprises close in 2-month period

Nearly 11,000 new enterprises with total capital of VND62.9 trillion (US$2.99 billion) were operating in the first two months of the year, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment. More than 13,000 enterprises have been shut down or have halted operations during the same period, a year-on-year increase of 12 per cent.

500 cases of measles reported nationwide

Since April last year, 46 provinces have reported a total of 1,600 cases of measles, according to Nguyen Tran Hien, director of the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology.

More than 500 cases of measles were reported in the first two months of the year. Ha Noi, HCM City and the provinces of Binh Duong, Dac Nong, Son La, Lao Cai and Yen Bai have been affected.
