Demand for workers rises in HCM City

HCM City will need another 20,000 workers next month, 30 per cent of them college graduates, according to the Centre for Human Resources Forecast and Labour Market Information.

The city's enterprises showed positive development in the first two months of the year and so demand for young and skilled workers is expected to increase.

HCM City will create 130,000 new jobs this year, the centre said.

Bus service to link Dong Hoi, national park

On Monday, the People's Committee of Quang Binh central province said it would launch a bus service linking Dong Hoi town with Phong Nha – Ke Bang World Heritage site. The bus line is expected to be popular with both local residents and tourists who make tours to the site. The bus line, which is 54km in length, will start operation in the second quarter of this year.

Mekong Delta spends $102m on schools

Last year, provinces in the Mekong Delta invested VND2.1 trillion (US$102 million) on building 2,669 new classrooms and 1,136 schools' libraries, teachers' rooms and physical training facilities. The provinces also spent VND255billion

(US$12.1million) on repairing 5,417 classrooms. However, the Mekong Delta region still has more than 3,800 makeshift classrooms which need to be rebuilt under the State's programme to build new schools.
