SBV wants to back coffee planters

The State Bank of Viet Nam has asked the Government to allow it to provide a refinancing loan of about VND12 trillion (US$568.3 million) to the Viet Nam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development to speed up the disbursement of lending contracts for coffee replantation.

Agribank has recently unveiled a programme to offer preferential loans for coffee replantation in the Central Highland, in which it would apply an interest rate of 2-2.5 per cent a year lower than medium- and long-term loans, with a maximum lending term of seven years.

Transport for Tet becomes priority

The Ministry of Transport has ordered agencies to ensure enough means of transport to serve travellers during the nation's Lunar New Year holiday.

They were also asked to keep stable prices during the period.

Minister Dinh La Thang said transport firms must map out specific transportation plans for the peak travelling periods to ensure they serve the highest possible number of customers.

Vaccines sent to flood-hit areas

Central Quang Tri Province will be provided with 20,000 doses of foot-and-mouth disease vaccines, thousands of litres of antiseptic and 10 tonnes of chlorine to cope with the outbreak of food-and-mouth disease among cattle.

The provision, carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, which revealed that outbreak has occurred in 11 communes and wards in the province, infecting more than 370 head of cattle.
