Conference focuses on tourist police force

The Viet Nam Tourism Association asked the Government to establish a tourist police force to protect foreign visitors and tourism activities.

The police force of tourist inspectors will also be re-established, heard an international conference in Da Nang on Thursday held by the Viet Nam Tourism Administration.

Ministry steps up environmental inspections

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has handed out fines of nearly VND100 billion (US$4.7 million) to violators of regulations on the protection of water and mineral resources.

Many of these cases involved encroachment on rivers and canals, and on corridors used to protect rivers and canals.

Trade promotion budget funds vital projects

More than VND94 billion (US$4.4 million) was disbursed to develop the 2013 National Trade Promotion Programme by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The money was used to develop 131 projects launched by 71 organisations and agencies nationwide.

Elderly care facilities scheme submitted

The Ministry of Construction this week submitted a project to build elderly care facilities to the Government.

Under the project, elderly care centres will be built in 10 provinces, including the remote provinces of Tuyen Quang, Kon Tum and Dong Thap.

Each centre will cost VND12 billion (US$571,000). The money comes from the State budget.
