Exports expected to reach target for the year
The country's export revenues will rise 14 per cent and reach US$131 billion this year, meeting the year's target, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
In the first nine months of the year, the manufacturing and processing sector gained growth of 26.8 per cent and earned a turnover of over $67.4 billion, followed by garment and textile exports with $13.1 billion, an increase of 17.3 per cent year-on-year.

City helps households escape from poverty
From now to the end of the year, HCM City targets helping around 10,000 households move above the poverty line of VND500,000 (US$25) per person per month.
It aims for a total of 20,000 households escaping poverty this year.
If the target is completed, there will be 18,000 poor households living under the poverty line, accounting for 0.9 per cent of total number of the city's families.

Poor women gain access to preferential loans
Around 138,000 poor women in HCM City have received loans at preferential interest rates, for a total of VND532 billion in the last 10 years.
The loans were made possible thanks to the support of the Women's Economic Development Fund under HCM City's Women Association.
As a result, over 80,000 women escaped from poverty and 33,000 developed their own business.
Industrial production increases 5.4 per cent
The country's industrial production in the first nine months of the year climbed 5.4 per cent compared to the same period last year, the Ministry of Industry and Trade reported.
The highest increase was in the sectors of food processing, beverages, leather and shoes, chemicals and construction materials.
