Modern toll station hits the road

The first Intelligent Transport System was inaugurated on the Cau Gie – Ninh Binh highway in the central region by the Viet Nam Expressway Service company.

The system includes a modern toll station and 56 digital high-definition cameras to read numberplates and track vehicles' speeds.

It is expected to reduce accidents, congestion, and environmental pollution.

Ben Luc – Long Thanh highway to be built

Work will begin at the end of this year on a 58-km highway from Ben Luc in the Mekong Delta province of Long An to Long Thanh in Dong Nai passing through HCM City.

The highway will have six lanes and allow vehicles to travel at speeds of 100km.

There will be two bridges along the VND1.6 trillion ($78 million) highway.

Delta industrial parks sully environment

Factories in industrial parks and processing zones in the Mekong River Delta discharge around 47 million tonnes of untreated wastewater and 220,000 tonnes of solid waste.

Two thirds of industrial parks and processing zones in the region have water treatment systems but many are obsolete or even unused to cut costs.

There are 120 industrial parks and clusters with a total area of 26,511 hectares.

Can Tho achieves record rice output

The Mekong Delta city of Can Tho has harvested 95 per cent of its fall-winter rice crop.

The yield is estimated at 1.4 million tonnes, an increase of 83,000 tonnes over last year and the highest ever. Both the area under rice and productivity are up this year.
