Rice-farming area grows in Mekong Delta

The area for rice cultivation in the Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta has reached 4.7 million hectares with a total yield of 24 million tonnes.

The increase in area was attributed to the effective operation of 1,960 cooperatives in the region.

Dak Nong cancels hydro-power projects

Central Highland Dak Nong Province's Department of Industry and Trade has asked the provincial administration to cancel eight small hydro-power projects because of their ineffective construction.

These projects include Dak R'Sung 2, Dak Sin 3, Dak Buk So 1, Dak Mam 3, Dak Pri, Ea Hir 1, Ea Hir 2 and Dak Muong.

Bac Lieu attracts more visitors

The Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta province of Bac Lieu welcomed 570,000 visitors in the first nine months of this year, a rise of 21.2 per cent year-on-year.

The province seeks to attract 760,000 visitors by the end of the year and earn total tourism revenue of VND700 biillion (US$33.3 million).
