Vung Tau to build new airport

The Ba Ria - Vung Tau People's Committee on Tuesday approved the relocation of the existing Vung Tau Airport to Go Gang Island in Long Son Commune in Vung Tau City.

The construction of the new airport will be in line with the planning of Vung Tau's urban areas until 2020 and will help promote the province's socio-economic growth.

The current airport, covering 172ha in Ward 9 in Vung Tau City, has been used mostly for logistics, oil and gas services.

Supermarkets offer Women's Day discounts

Supermarkets in HCM City have unveiled promotions of discounts of up to 50 per cent for Viet Nam's Women's Day which falls on October 20.

Big C outlets have cut prices of 1,800 items, including cosmetics and clothes, by 49 per cent until the end of this month. Big C is also offering thousands of gifts to consumers.

Clothes, food and drinks sold at Vinatex Mart have been cut by 20 – 49 per cent this month. Co-op Mart is offering discounts of 10 to 50 per cent on more than 2,000 items, including food and consumer goods through October 27.

Bac Lieu enjoys increase in tourism

The Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu has received more than 570,000 tourists in the first nine months of the year, up 21.2 per cent year-on-year. The province, known for many beautiful landscapes, expects to receive 760,000 tourists this year.

HCM City to relocate residential cemeteries

The HCM City People's Committee has asked the Natural Resources and Environment Department to close and move cemeteries located in residential areas.

The committee has asked the department to create favourable conditions to encourage businesses to invest in building new crematoriums and cemeteries combined with parks.
