Ninh Thuan begins work on bridge upgrade

The People's Committee of Ninh Phuoc District in central Ninh Thuan Province on June 26 started work to upgrade My Nghiep Bridge in Phuoc Dan town.

The VND12 billion (US$570,450) project is expected to be completed by the end of the year, and contribute to developing craft-village tourism in the province.

Agriculture ministry to check rice stockpile

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) has issued regulations to supervise the stockpiling of rice from the 2013 summer-autumn crop.

The ministry will establish an interdisciplinary inspection team representing MARD, the Ministries of Industry and Trade, Finance, the State Bank of Viet Nam, People's Committee of Cuu Long Delta provinces and the Viet Nam Food Association.

They will check the allocation of quotas and other measures. In addition, the inspection team will check on loan disbursement of banks involved in the programme.

Enterprises face massive insurance debts

Enterprises nationwide owe a total of nearly VND9.6 trillion (over US$456.3 million) in social and health insurance debts as of the end of last month, an increase of 11 per cent over the same period last year, the Viet Nam Social Insurance Agency announced on Wednesday.

Vinashin and Vinalines owe VND365.1 billion. According to the agency, many businesses have avoided paying social and health insurance for their workers by not signing labour contracts with employees, or have only paid insurance for a few of their workers.
