HCM City to start helmet exchange

The HCM City Committee of the Communist Youth Union will exchange low-quality helmets for new standard ones as part of a programme to be launched next week.

The helmet-exchange programme will be held in 24 districts, colleges and industrial parks in the city from June 1 to August 1.

The cost of the new helmets are partly subsidised under a programme held in response to the National Committee for Traffic Safety policy.

Last March, Ha Noi exchanged fake helmets for genuine ones.

Da Nang creates 10,000 new jobs

Since the beginning of this year, Da Nang City has created 10,059 jobs, 5,264 of which are in state-owned businesses and the rest in foreign invested companies, according to the city's Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Department. The city aims to provide jobs to 20,000 more people this year.

No power outages during exam days

Electricity of Viet Nam's HCM City office said there would be no power cuts during high school graduation examinations and university entrance examinations for the 2013-14 academic year.

The high school graduation tests will be held on three days, June 2 to 4. The university entrance examinations will be held in three phases this year, July 4 - 5, 9-10, and 15-16.

 

Poor patients get free medical check-ups

Doctors of Fortis Hoan My Saigon Hospital last weekend gave free medical check-ups and medicine to 400 poor patients in Long Thoi village in HCM City's Nha Be District.

The doctors will again give free medical check-ups and medicine to underprivileged people in Ca Mau and Bac Lieu provinces in the Mekong Delta this weekend.
