Gia Lai supports farmers to boost incomes

The Tay Nguyen (Central Highlands) province of Gia Lai has helped more than 2,200 agricultural farms that employ 30-40 farmers each with financial support that have helped them develop and earn more than VND100 million (US$ 5,000) per year.

HCM City plans to introduce electric buses

A project to use electric buses on main streets to serve residents and tourists while reducing environmental pollution is being considered by the HCM City administration.

Under the project prepared by the Department of Transport, the electric buses will be used in the city's centre, and on routes linking Vo Van Kiet Boulevard and District 5. The department is studying the technology and supply situation.

Ha Noi has been using battery powered vehicles for tours around the Old Quarter and West Lake. In central Da Nang City, the first electric bus route opened to the public early last year.

Viet Nam fruit reaches 76 countries

Viet Nam is now exporting fruit to 76 countries including major markets like Japan, South Korea, New Zealand and the US, Dr. Luong Ngoc Trung Lap of the Southern Fruit Institute said at a conference held in Tien Giang Province on Thursday.

Dragon fruit continues to record the highest export growth among more than 40 kinds of Vietnamese fruit with revenues of US$100 million a year, accounting for 40 percent of total fruit export value.

Fruit exports to Japan and South Korea have risen in both volume and value of late, the conference heard.
