Mekong Development Bank (MDB) and Manulife Insurance Company have signed cooperation agreement to speed up trading activities for life insurance products via banks (bancassurance).
Initially, MDB will distribute Manulife's products at its branches and transaction points in HCM City and Ha Noi, before expanding to the Mekong Delta region, which considered a promising market for both partners.
MDB's customers will benefit from consultancy and financial solutions offered by Manulife. In return, Manulife will train MDB sales staff. The two sides will also build marketing programmes and distribution channels for their products.

City to stabilise medicine prices
The HCM City People's Committee has announced a plan to stabilise the prices of essential medicines.
The price stabilisation programme for medicine will run from April 1, 2013 to March 31, 2014.
Initially, 21 types of essential medicines will be sold under the programme, including painkillers and drugs to treat conditions like diarrhea and diabetes.
The supply of these drugs under the programme will account for 50 percent of the market demand and they will be sold at prices 5-10 percent lower than the market.

FDI projects increase capital
By March 20, 191 new projects with total registered capital of over US$2.9 billion had been licensed this year, an increase of 2.2 per cent over the same period of last year.
Meanwhile 71 existing projects registered to increase their capital by a total of $3.1 billion, 3.7 times the figure during the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment's Foreign Investment Agency.
