US cancels anti-dumping duty review

The US Department of Commerce has cancelled an anti-dumping duty administrative review on frozen fish fillets from the An Giang Fishery Import and Export Company (Agifish), according to the Viet Nam Competition Authority. In addition to fillets, frozen shrimp imported from Viet Nam is subject to anti-dumping duties. The US conducts an anti-dumping duty review on Vietnamese exports every year, with the first done in 2005.

Bac Lieu builds houses for the needy

Work on a project to build 1,000 houses for poor families who have neither houses nor land for production began on Thursday in Vinh Trach Dong Village in Bac Lieu City. The project has an investment of VND50 billion (US$2.4 million), which was sourced from charitable organisations in and outside the locality.

Under the project, each poor family will receive a 40-square-metre house worth VND50 million ($2,400) and 260sq.m of land for production. Of these, 60 houses are expected to be finished and transferred to the poor before Tet (Lunar New Year), and the remaining, in 2013.

Gov't funds Hue relic preservation

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved a scheme to allocate VND800 billion ($38.5 million) for central Thua Thien-Hue Province to preserve and promote the value of relics and historical sites in the province during the 2013-20 period. The budget for preservation work in the province is only VND20-25 billion ($961,400 -$1.2 million) a year.
