HCM City's Cho Ray Hospital will build a second facility in Binh Chanh District, according to the Ministry of Health.
The seven-hectare, 1,000-bed hospital is expected to reduce the current overload at the city's premier medical facility.
Besides, construction of a 12-floor cancer ward will begin next month at the old Cho Ray Hospital.

Binh Thuan to get dragon fruit recognition
The Binh Thuan People's Committee has approved creation of the "Binh Thuan Dragon Fruit" geographic indicator for fresh products.
Only fruits grown in the central province can use it.
The province has also wrapped up procedures to register the indicator globally.

Dong Nai marks $37m for forest protection
The southern province of Dong Nai will earmark VND788 billion (US$37 million) in 2012-20 for afforestation and protection of forests.
It will create a database on forests and agricultural land at the province, district, and commune levels, and update it annually.
The province has 101,000ha of special-use forest, 37,000ha of protected forests, and 32,000ha of productive forests.

An Giang has begun to deploy measures to manage the market and stabilise it ahead of the upcoming Tet (Lunar New Year) festival.
The Mekong Delta province will step up inspection of essential goods as well as services like education and transportation.

Phu Yen prohibits dodgy drugs
The central province of Phu Yen's Department of Health said on Sunday it had inspected many pharmacies and discovered many drugs that did not meet the standards set by the Ministry of Health.
They included both domestic and foreign drugs, all of which have been prohibited from being distributed.
