Five vocational training and labour-export projects valued at VND30.6 trillion (US$1.46 billion) for the 2012-15 period have been approved by the Government, according to the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.
Of them, two vocational training projects will receive nearly VND19 trillion ($909 million). This will increase the rate of skilled labourers by 40 per cent in 2015. More than 2.4 million labourers in urban and remote areas will benefit.
More than VND1 trillion ($4.78 million) will be spent on labour-export programmes that are expected to send 120,000 people, mostly from poor and ethnic-minority households, to work abroad.

Climate-change programme to be set up
The Government has approved a VND1.1 trillion (US$ 52.6 million) programme on researching climate change from now to 2015, according to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. The programme will focus on the country's ecosystem, environmental geology, natural resources from the sea, and climate change.

City invests in waste-water treatment plant
HCM City will spend VND13 billion ($622,000) to upgrade the Binh Hung Waste Water Treatment Plant located in District Binh Chanh District, as part of the city's efforts to improve flooding in local areas.
Construction will be completed this year on a waste water collection and treatment plant located in the district's Da Phuoc Commune.
