The Da Nang People's Committee has issued a policy to help local fishermen build boats for offshore fishing. The city will provide VND500 million for boats with an engine capacity of 400CV – 600CV, VND600 million for 600CV – 800CV boats, and VND800 million for 800CV+ boats. The fishermen are asked to run the boats for two years. The city will also exempt boat registration fees.

Reservoirs need upgrading
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has submitted a report to the Government on the safety of reservoirs across the country and a proposal on sources of funding for repair work.
According to the report, all reservoirs with a capacity of more than 10 million cubic metres of water are in good condition. Eleven reservoirs with a capacity of between 3 million and 10 million cu.m. and most below 3 million cu.m are in serious disrepair. Most of them are located in the northern and Tay Nguyen (Central Highlands) provinces.
The country has 6,648 reservoirs, including 103 reservoirs with a capacity of more than 10 million cu. m. of water.

Inventory for industrial products rises
According to the General Statistics Office, as of August 1, the inventory turnover rate of some industrial sectors increased 50 per cent compared to the same period last year. Fertilisers and nitro compound rose 81.6 per cent, communications equipment 61.9 per cent, and cement 50.6 per cent.

HCM City boosts holiday transport
During the National Day holiday, the HCM City Public Transport Management and Operation Centre will add more than 1,000 trips on 21 bus routes that stop by local coach stations and amusement parks.
The Sai Gon Railway Transport Company will also provide 14 additional trips between HCM City and popular tourist areas, including Nha Trang, Phan Thiet and Quy Nhon, from August 30 to September 3.
