11,000 houses built for poor families in Dong Thap

The Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta province of Dong Thap has built 11,118 houses worth a total of VND292 billion (US$14 million) for needy households.

The effort was part of a three-year programme to offer housing for the disadvantaged, under decision 167/2008/QD-TTg made by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

Families in Ca Mau at risk from landslides

More than 1,000 families in the southernmost province of Ca Mau live in at least 100 landslide areas, according to the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Serious landslides occur near dykes in the east and west seas but also at estuaries.

HCM City to offer tourist buses

The HCM City Transport Ltd Company will open in mid-September a bus service that travels around the city centre to serve local and foreign tourists.

The fleet will include 12 modern buses, serviced seven days a week between 5:30am and 8pm every eight minutes.

The bus, which will depart at 23/9 Park and arrive at Hoang Sa Street, will stop at most tourists attractions in the city centre, including Ben Thanh market, HCM City Opera House and Independence Palace, among others. The fare is VND4,000 per passenger.
