The Ministry of Industry and Trade has suggested importation of 70,000 tonnes of sugar, pointing out that sugar prices tend to increase due to increasing demand during the Mid-Autumn Festival at the end of September.
It warned that prices could easily shoot up considering the amount of sugar stocks.

HCM City increases parking fees
HCM City People's Committee has announced increased parking rates with effect from August 1.
The rates for bicycles, electric bicycles and motorbikes, and motorbikes are classified into three groups: schools and hospitals; markets, supermarkets, 3rd and 4th grade apartment blocks, shop, and offices; and 1st and 2nd grade apartment blocks, entertainment and amusement places, hotels, restaurants, dance halls, cinemas, theatres, and shopping malls.
The fees for bicycles and electric bicycles range from VND500 to VND4,000, and for electric motorbikes and motorbikes, from VND2,000 to VND6,000.
For cars, the fee is from VND15,000 to VND50,000 based on location. One group consists of Districts 1, 3 and 5, and the other of the rest of the city.

Seminar discusses agricultural development
A seminar on strategies to develop agriculture and rural areas in the rest of this decade was held in An Giang on Wednesday.
The strategy aims to restructure agriculture to revive growth, improve yields and competitiveness, mobilise all societal advantages to develop rural areas, improve incomes and reduce poverty, protect the environment, and generally develop agriculture in the overall context of industrialisation and modernisation.
It was organised by the Institute of Policy and Strategy for Agriculture and Rural Development and the An Giang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development's Southwest Steering Committee.

Minister seeks upgrade to expressway
Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang has called on the Government to invest VND1.5 trillion (US$71.4 million) to upgrade the Phap Van-Cau Gie road in Ha Noi into a four-lane expressway.
The road links the Ring Road No 3 and Cau Gie-Ninh Binh Expressway.
