The Ministry of Finance has set up a team to assess the challenges facing businesses at a time of economic downturn. The team includes representatives from the Institute of Finance Strategy, General Tax Department, General Customers Department and Budget Department, among others.
The ministry aims to help businesses in policies, capital and finance. The ministry also considers extending or waiving of tax payments for businesses and will submit a request to the Government for approval.

More hydropower plants put into operation
The Electricity of Viet Nam (EVN) has announced that it will open several hydropower turbines this month, including turbine 5 at the Son La hydropower plant, turbine 2 at the Dong Nai 4 hydropower plant and turbine 2 at the Kanak hydropower plant. It will continue the trial opening of turbine 1 at Dong Nai 4 hydropower plant.
EVN is urging concerned agencies to fix the leaks in the dam at the Song Tranh 2 hydropower plant.
According to EVN, the power system usage is expected to reach 331 million kWh per day, with a maximum capacity of between 16,500 and 16,900 MW. Last month, total electricity output reached 10.03 billion kWh.

Ministry to hand out awards for IT applications
The Ministry of Information and Communications will give out awards to state companies that have had good results in using information technology (IT).
The award aims to honour state companies that have had good results in using IT, including informative websites and online services for residents and businesses. According to a report by the United Nations, last year Viet Nam ranked fourth in the ASEAN region and was 90 out of 190 countries in IT application.
