Electricity of Viet Nam (EVN) last week launched a campaign asking families in large cities nationwide to reduce their power consumption.
The campaign targets reducing household electricity consumption by 10 per cent during three months of the dry season – April, May and June, compared to the same period last year.
EVN is also encouraging the use of solar powered water heaters.

Thua Thien Hue approves forestry project
The Thua Thien Hue Province's People's Committee last week approved a VND5.7 billion ($271,000) project that will build better infrastructure and other facilities for the forestry sector towards improving management, protection and prevention activities against forest fires until the end of next year.
The project aims to protect and ensure the area of prime forests in the central province.

ADB prepares to fund agricultural makeover
Nguyen Van Binh, Governor of the State Bank of Viet Nam, and Tomoyuki Kimura, director of Asia Development Bank (ADB) in Viet Nam, on Friday signed two loan agreements worth $200 million that will be used to develop agricultural infrastructure including irrigation systems.
One of the agreements worth $110 million will fund a project developing an irrigation network in the northern province of Thanh Hoa.
