Young intellectuals to support those in need

The Central Highlands Province of Kon Tum on Monday held a ceremony to send 18 university graduates aged between 22 and 32 to work in 18 disadvantaged villages in Tu Mo Rong and Kon Plong districts. Fifteen of these youth belong to ethnic minority communities. The youth will serve as vice chairmen of the villages' People's Committees in the two districts.

The appointments are being made under a project approved by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung in which 600 talented young university graduates will be sent to work in 62 disadvantaged rural districts around the country.

Lao tour operators set to visit Da Nang

Tour operators from Laos will pay a visit to Da Nang from March 7-10 to study the local market, according to the central city's Culture, Sports and Tourism Department. The trip, organised by Lao Airlines, will also cover the former imperial city of Hue and Hoi An Town in Quang Nam Province.

Lao Airlines in mid April will open three flights a week to link Pakse and Savannakhet provinces of Laos with Da Nang.

Long Xuyen hosts quality products exhibition

The Viet Nam High Quality Products Exhibition 2012 opened on Monday in Long Xuyen Town, An Giang Province.

Over 160 businesses from around the country are displaying their wares at 500 booths. The exhibition will run until March 11.

Quang Ngai fishermen enjoy bumper tuna catch

Fishermen in the central province of Quang Ngai's Binh Son District have had bumper catches of tuna this week thanks to favourable weather conditions. In one night off the Quang Nam and Da Nang coasts, a fishing boat can net between eight to 10 tonnes of tuna which sells for between VND250 million (US$12,500) and VND300 million.

HCM City jobs fair helps 595 find work

A job fair organised by HCM City's Youth Employment Service Centre on Monday attracted 23 businesses seeking to recruit 3,041 workers in marketing, accounting, engineering, construction and other areas. More than 1,000 people visited the fair seeking employment information and 595 got jobs.
