Update: February, 27/2012 - 09:02
Bac Lieu has set up an inspection team drawn from various departments to check cooking gas and petrol distribution in the Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta province.

Phan Hung Viet, director of the province's Department of Industry and Trade, said this followed consumer complaints about prices as well as safety concerns.

The inspections, to continue until late next month, will focus on ensuring compliance with regulations related to origin of goods, documentation, price indication, and fire safety at outlets and during transport.

Supermarket ceases operations in south

Many suppliers of Fivimart supermarket in District 7 have become anxious after the outlet suddenly closed down recently.

Vu Thi Hau, deputy general director of Fivimart, said last week the company planned to change its business model in HCM City.

Fivimart would return stocks to suppliers, and then the two sides would liquidate their contracts, she said.

The chain was operating normally in Ha Noi, with 13 outlets and prompt payments being made to suppliers, she said.

The District 7 outlet was Fivimart's last in HCM City after gradually closing down three others.

Property transactions slow down in Ha Noi

Apartment and land prices in Ha Noi have been declining since last quarter due to a fall in demand, according to the Ministry of Construction.

Only around 900 transactions were completed in the second half of last year, it said.

Apartment prices are equivalent to those in early 2010, but remain 40 per cent higher than in early 2009.

In western Ha Noi, though land rates have dropped by 10-20 per cent since October compared to late 2010, the fall is modest compared to the 60-100 per cent surge in prices since the beginning of 2009 until they peaked.
