Viet Nam finds new market for rice

The Viet Nam Food Association has said Viet Nam has found a new export market for rice in Hong Kong, with nearly 40,000 tonnes shipped in January. Many more rice export contracts to the new market are expected to be signed in the coming months, the association said.

Vietnamese businesses exported more than 184,500 tonnes rice for an FOB (free on board) value of more than US$100 million in the first 20 days of January.

After the Lunar New Year, many foreign customers have visited Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta provinces to study the local market and rice quality. They seek understanding about the market, rice quality and have negotiated contracts to buy high quality rice.
