HCM City revokes petrol station licences

The HCM City People's Committee on Monday withdrew business licenses granted to Trung Huy Company in Binh Tan District's Tan Tao Ward and Filling Station No.7 in Go Vap District's Ward 10 for selling substandard gasoline. The People's Committee also handed down fines totalling VND60 million (US$2,860) on the two firms. The Industry and Trade Department has been asked not to issue licenses to these two businesses before January 31, 2013.

Since early last month, HCM City has revoked the business licenses of nine businesses and filling stations which had been found selling sub-standard gasoline to consumers.

Provinces greet more tourists during Tet

The central province of Thua Thien – Hue received more than 51,000 foreign and domestic tourists during the Tet (Lunar New Year) holidays, an increase of 40 per cent compared with last year, the province's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said.

Tien Giang Province in the Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta received more than 140,000 domestic and foreign tourists during the Lunar New Year festival, 20 per cent higher than Tet 2011.

Meanwhile, the Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta Province of Kien Giang received nearly 160,000 visitors. The province earned more than VND11 billion (US$523,800) from Tet tourism, increased by 72 per cent against last year.

Binh Duong approves housing project

The People's Committee of southern Binh Duong Province has approved a VND11 trillion (US$524 million) project to build nearly two million sq. metres of housing for more than 175,000 people by 2015.

Binh Duong authorities also urged developers of residential quarters projects for commercial purposes to reserve 10 to 20 per cent of the land allotted to them to build social houses for workers and low income earners.
