A two-month (Jan 1 – Feb 28) blood donation campaign titled "Le hoi Xuan Hong" (Red Spring Festival) in northern Hai Duong Province hopes to serve needy patients during the Lunar New Year holiday.
Thousands of students from the Hai Duong Medical Technical University and members of the Tu Ky District Youth Union registered to donate blood.
The campaign initially collected more than 750 units of blood, and many have signed up to donate during the Tet vacation if needed.

Interdisciplinary inspections to check petrol
The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) has decided to establish two interdisciplinary inspection teams to check petrol trading activities in key areas.
The teams, managed by MoIT's Market Management Department in cooperation with the Economic Police Department and the Product Quality Management Department, will inspect petrol trading enterprises in key provinces and cities in terms of compliance with regulations.
The inspection will be carried out until March 31 and the results, reported to the Central 127 Steering Committee, an anti-trade fraud, fake goods and smuggling agency.

Consumer rights budget allocated
The Ha Noi People's Committee has decided to earmark VND1.3 billion (US$62,050) to implement its consumer rights action programme from March 1 to June 30.
According to municipal authorities, the highlight of the programme is a sales week held from March 16-23. Enterprises participating in the programme must pledge to sell their goods under a special policy that sets quality and price criteria.
Consumers, meanwhile, will have the chance to buy the necessary goods and vote on the enterprises' product quality and services.

VFA lowers rice export prices
The Viet Nam Food Association has lowered the floor prices of rice for export starting January 18.
Under the new adjustment, five per cent broken rice will have to be sold at a minimum of US$450 a tonne, 10 per cent broken rice at $445, 15 per cent broken rice at $435 and 25 per cent broken rice at $425. These are free on board (FOB) prices.
The new prices are about 10 per cent lower than what was applied from December 22 to January 17.

Lai Vung pink tangerine gets a trademark
The quyt hong Lai Vung (Lai Vung Pink Tangerine) had received a trademark registration certificate from the National Office of Intellectual Property of Viet Nam.
The trademark tangerines are planted in the four communes of Vinh Thoi, Tan Phuoc, Tan Thanh and Long Hau in Lai Vung District.
The four communes have a total area of nearly 1,180ha under pink tangarine cultivation that yields more than 41,000 tonnes of fruit a year.
