Vietjet records strong growth in 2017

HCM CITY — Vietjet Aviation Joint Stock Company (HOSE: VJC) earned a total net revenue of VNĐ42.26 trillion (US$1.85 billion) in 2017, surging 54 per cent from a year ago.

Vietjet’s pre-tax profit stood at approximately VNĐ4.75 trillion ($208 million), up 75.9 per cent year on year, far surpassing its yearly target, according to the airline’s pre-audited financial statement report, which was released on Wednesday.

Thanks to the expansion of its fleet by 17 aircrafts in 2017, Vietjet opened 22 new routes, including 21 international ones, taking the total number of operational routes to 82.

During the year, the carrier carried more than 17.11 million passengers, and its on time performance was 85.59 per cent.

With positive business results, Vietjet has increased its 2017 dividend payment from 50 per cent to 60 per cent and prepared for a 10-per-cent cash dividend payment for 2017 on February 7. — VNS
