HẢI PHÒNG — Aeon Mall Việt Nam’s US$180 million shopping centre in this northern port city is expected to begin operations by 2020, said the general director of the company, Iwamura Yasutsugu.
He made the statement at a ceremony in Hải Phòng on Wednesday to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Hải Phòng Centre for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion, and Việt Phát Investment, Trade and Export-Import Company to accelerate the construction of the shopping centre.

He noted the centre is expected to welcome some 13 million customers per year.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, secretary of the municipal Party Committee Lê Văn Thành said once completed, the project will generate jobs for more than 2,000 workers, contribute to the State budget and assist the development of local small- and medium-sized enterprises.
Hải Phòng will hand over the site on schedule and ensure the provision of adequate infrastructure along with water and electricity supply for the investor to complete the construction, he said.
The Aeon Mall Hải Phòng-Lê Chân will cover an area of nearly 9.3ha on Hồ Sen–Cầu Rào 2 Road in Lê Chân District.
