HÀ NỘI — Leaders in Ninh Thuận province on Wednesday began joint work with Power Generation Corporation 3 (Genco 3), under Việt Nam Electricity Group (EVN), on two solar power projects in the province.
Operating under the plan of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and EVN on renewable energy development, Genco 3 proposed investments in two solar power projects in Phước Minh Commune, Thuận Nam District.
The proposed projects cover an area of 554 hectares with an installed capacity of 350 MW and total investment of nearly VNĐ9.58 trillion.
Construction of the project is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2018 and to finish in the first quarter of 2021.
In addition to producing solar power, Genco 3 will provide hi-tech agricultural production within the project area.
Currently, Genco 3 is managing 12 thermal and hydropower plants nationwide, with a total capacity of 6,549 MW, accounting for nearly 17 per cent of the nation’s power system output. — VNS
