Da Lat hotel aims to lure golfers

Mercure Da Lat Hotel Du Parc and Da Lat Palace Golf Club yesterday announced a free stay in a luxury room and unlimited golf for anyone hitting a hole in one at the first hole of the club's golf course.

"Mercure Da Lat Hotel Du Parc and Da Lat Palace Golf Club will offer one week's suite-room accommodation at Cafe De Le Poste and unlimited golf during the stay for any golfer, amateur or professional, who can hit a hole in one in any game conditions," Tony Chisholm, general manager of Mercure Da Lat Hotel Du Parc, said.

The first hole in 170 yards for men and 124 yards for women, he added.

The offer is open until December 21.

Football school opens new campus

The Vinamilk Arsenal Football School has opened its second campus at HCM City's Thanh Nien Football Field.

The new campus, in Phu My Hung area, District 7, will use the school's two coaches from Arsenal FC – Andy Collins and William Trigg – who also coach at Hoa Lu Stadium, District 1 campus which opened in 2008.

The school has 500 students aged from 4-18, of which 80 per cent are Vietnamese.

Viet Nam beat Croatia at 3-cushion

Vietnamese cueists had a perfect start to the World Team 3-Cushion Championship which opened in Germany on Thursday.

Former Asian champion Duong Anh Vu beat Domagoj Hum from Croatia 2-0 while his teammate Dang Dinh Tien – who triumphed at the recent third Asian Indoor Games 1-cushion event – trounced Nadir Paulovic 2-0 in group E.

Their next match is against strong Spanish players Daniel Sanchez, who is world No 6, and Ruben Legazpi No 25. Vu is No 19 and Tien No 245.

The winner of the match will enter the quarter-finals.

 

Quyen sidelined by motorbike injury

Former national member Pham Van Quyen has been sidelined for two weeks by injury and will be out this weekend when his team, Song Lam Nghe An, face Hai Phong Cement at Vinh Stadium.

Quyen was injured in a motorbike accident last week.

His coach Nguyen Huu Thang is also without halfbacks Au Van Hoan and Dac Khanh, also with injuries.

The SLNA-Hai Phong match is expected to attract more attention than usual from national football fans and sports administrators. Their 2008 clash caused a riot among fans, resulting in one death and hundreds of injuries. — VNS
