Viet Nam win two silver, one bronze at xiangqi champs

HA NOI (VNS)- Viet Nam returned home with two silver medals and one bronze at the 17th Asian Xiangqi (Chinese chess) Championships, which concluded in the Philippines yesterday.

The men's team of Vo Minh Nhat, Trenh A Sang and Ton That Nhat Tan gained silver after seven rounds with five wins, one draw and one loss, earning 11 points. China topped the event with 13 points; Hong Kong were third with 10 points.

Ngo Lan Huong won silver in the individual women's event, losing to Tang Dan of China in the final after 61 moves.

Bronze went to Nguyen Minh Nhat Quang in the individual junior event, losing to Li Han Lin of China in the semi-finals and beating Chen Jing of Singapore for third. - VNS
