HA NOI (VNS)– Australian team Sydney FC have invited Song Lam Nghe An's young striker Nguyen Phi Son to join them.

Son put in a great performance in an international under-21 football tournament organised by Thanh Nien (Young People) newspaper last week in central Binh Thuan Province.

His skills caught the eye of Sydney's coaching staff, who want to add him to their ranks to play in the A-League in their remaining games this year.

The club has said they would pay Son up to US$3,000 per month, plus a fee for Nghe An who would loan Son to Sydney for about seven matches, until next January.

Coach Dinh Van Dung of Nghe An said the club would allow Son to make the move abroad as soon as they receive an official invitation from Sydney.

He said he was asked to introduce some other players to the Australian club.

Nghe An are one of the big teams in the V-League and Son, 20, has been a regular for them this season.

Sydney FC were established in 2004 and have lured a number of international players such as Juninho Paulista, Dwight Yorke and Alessandro del Piero. — VNS
