Malaysia beat Viet Nam to win U21 football event

Malaysia triumph at Thanh Nien (Young People) newspaper's International Under-21 Football Championships yesterday at Pleiku Stadium in Gia Lai Province.

They beat host Viet Nam 1-0 in the final match. The only goal was scored by Bakri at the 52nd minute.

Viet Nam, under great support from home fans, failed to find the net despite a number of opportunities.

The winner of the tournament walked away with a bonus of US$12,000.

In the third-placed playoff match, Sydney defeated Thailand 2-1.-VNS
