Grandmaster Liem in a draw

HA NOI (VNS)-Chess Grandmaster Le Quang Liem successfully held German rival Georg Meier to a draw in his sixth match in the US Spice Cup today.

In other results, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave of France tied with Csaba Balogh of Hungary and Wesley So of the Philippines also drew with Ding Liren of China.The draw helps Liem, the tournament's defending champion, retain joint third position with Chinese player Ding, who also has three points. Meanwhile, So and Vachier-Lagrave share first place with 3.5 points each.

In the next round, HCM City's Liem will meet Vachier-Lagrave, Balogh plays So, while Ding meets Meier.- VNS
