Viet Nam-Indonesia match grinds to draw

HA NOI (VNS)— The Vietnamese football team's clash with Indonesia ended in stalemate after a goalless draw at My Dinh National Stadium in Ha Noi yesterday.

The host made a strong start and their players started brightly, controlling the game with the support of their home crowd.

Viet Nam had an early chance to open the scoring in the fifth minute when Trong Hoang faced Indonesia's goalie but failed to find the target.

After that, Viet Nam created several dangerous attacks on the visitors' goal but the Indonesian keeper was in fine form.

After being mostly on the defensive, the visitors fired more attacks in search of a score, but they were well-repelled by the solid Vietnamese defence.

In the second half, Viet Nam team played defensively and relied on counter attacks to find a winner, but neither side was able to find the net.

On September 15, Viet Nam also played out a goalless draw against hosts Indonesia in a friendly match at Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium in Surabaya. — VNS
