Triathletes set for My Khe Beach

Around 80 foreign residents from Australia, the US, France, England, Japan and local athletes will be competing in the 2012 GoPro Hero Da Nang Triathlon at My Khe Beach on Saturday, according to the event organising committee.

Philip Bossley from the committee said over 150 Vietnamese students from 10 colleges in the central city are scheduled to take part in the student event with a 5km bike ride and 2km run at 6am this weekend.

"Athletes will head to the sea from the start off My Khe Beach before cycling along Truong Sa Street and completing the gruelling 10km run," Bossley said.

Foreigners and local professionals are set to join a full triathlon consisting of a 1.5km swim, 40km cycle ride and a 10km run in the city's East Sea Park.

A half triathlon will also be held.
