Bodybuilders set for regional champs

Viet Nam will compete at the 46th Asian Bodybuilding Championships which starts today at the Tianhe Sports Centre in Guangzhou, China.

The Chinese organisers said more than 200 athletes from 20 countries and territories had registered to take part.

South Korea, Mongolia and Uzbekistan are considered title favourites.

This year, Viet Nam has sent 16 bodybuilders to compete.

Pham Van Mach will defend his title in the men's 55kg category, and world champion Nguyen Thi My Linh will test her strength in the women's 52kg division.

Other medal hopes are Se Pha in the men's 70kg pool, Nguyen Hai Au in the men's 65kg class and Dinh Thi Kim Loan in the women's fitness event.

The tournament ends tomorrow.-VNS
