Norway supports Hue football project

The Norwegian Football Federation has granted more than VND17.6 billion (US$845,000) to a community-based football project in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue.

The VND19.5 billion ($900,000) project supported by both the Norwegian Football Federation and local authorities for the 2012-15 period focuses on training coaches and referees and buying equipment for programmes at football clubs targeting local orphans and street kids. It also aims to organise more local tournaments, bolster funds for the 120 football clubs in the province and set up 10 new clubs every year during the period.

Initiated in 2000, the project has brought a lot of fun to participants through useful activities such as basic football training for underprivileged local children, enabling them to share love, friendship, knowledge and life skills.-VNS
