Trung fails in final round of men's 100m breaststroke

HA NOI -- Despite strong efforts, Nguyen Thanh Trung failed in the final round of the men's 100m breaststroke SB4 at the ongoing London Paralympics this morning.

He ranked eighth with a time of 1:53.60. Trung finished the qualifying round with a time of 1:52.14 to rank seventh out of 10 athletes yesterday.

This morning, Nguyen Thi Hai did not move on from the qualifying round of the women's discus throw F58 event. With 28m14, the Nghe An Province-born Hai ranked 11th among 17 other competitors.

Today, Duong Thi Bich Lan and Trinh Thi Bich Nhu will compete in the women's 100m breaststroke SB5, while Trinh Cong Luan will take part in the men's discus throw F55. -- VNS
