Domestic pole-vault record set at junior championships

A new record was set on the first day of the National Youth Athletics Championships in HCM City on Thursday.

Le Hong Huu, 19, of Thanh Hoa, successfully leapt over 4.45m in the men's pole-vault event, 5cm higher than the previous record set by Nguyen Van Hue of Hai Duong marked at the same tournament last year.

The championships has lured more than 350 athletes from 46 cities and provinces to the three-day event that will wrap up today. — VNS
