International triathletes prepare for summer fun on the beach

More than 100 athletes will compete in the annual 2012 GoPro Hero Da Nang Triathlon at My Khe Beach on September 29.

The organising committee said those competing would be Vietnamese and foreign residents living in Viet Nam, including tourists.

They will take part in categories for professionals, students, juniors and youngsters.

Professionals will join a full triathlon consisting of a 1.5km swim, 40km cycle ride and a 10km run. A half triathlon offers a 750m swim, a 20km cycle ride and a 5km run.

Students will cycle 5km before running 2km along My Khe Beach.

Juniors and youngsters will race in a 2km and 1km beach runs, respectively.

The annual race aims to boost summer holiday tourism.-VNS
