Vien wins heat in women's 200m backstroke

Sixteen-year-old Nguyen Thi Anh Vien ranked first in the first heat of the qualifying round of the women's 200m backstroke at the London Olympics yesterday.

Vien finished first out of five swimmers with a time of 2:13.35. But this result didn't help her move to the next round.

Vien, who is the country's youngest athlete in this year's Olympics, also failed to move on in the women's 400m medley.-VNS
