Minh enjoys favourable draw in badminton competition

The Badminton World Federation has published an official competition schedule for the London Olympics that has turned out favourably for Viet Nam's top player Nguyen Tien Minh.

In a change to the schedule published on Monday following the draw, Minh will play his first game against Yuhan Tan from Belgium tomorrow and then next meet Parupalli Kashyap from India on Tuesday.

The No 11 seed will have a day-off to rest and prepare for his second match against tough rival Kashiyap, who is 21st in the world rankings.

Minh didn't attend the opening ceremony last night as he was busy preparing for his opening match.

Because of the change to the schedule, judoka Van Ngoc Tu will replace Minh as the first Vietnamese athlete to compete at the Olympics. She takes part in the women's 48kg event today.-VNS
