National team readies for friendlies

Viet Nam plan to play friendlies with Malaysia and Indonesia in September as part of their preparations for the Southeast Asia Football Championships to be held in Malaysia and Thailand this December.

The squad will convene in September and train for one week before flying to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to play with the host nation's team.

The second friendly with Indonesian national team will be played in Jakarta four days later.

The return friendlies will be played at My Dinh National Stadium in Ha Noi against Indonesia on September 22 and Malaysia on November 3.

Viet Nam have been drawn in Group A of the regional contest along with Thailand, the Philippines and the winner of the qualifying rounds played by Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Timor-Leste.-VNS
