Disabled medal winners to get cash

Disabled Vietnamese athletes will be awarded prize money by sponsors Thai Son Nam Trading Company and T&T Corporation if they win medals at the London Paralympics.

They will receive VND600 million (nearly US$29,000) for a gold medal, VND400 million ($19,000) for every silver medal and VND200 million ($9,600) for each bronze medal.

The HCM City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is also sponsoring its athletes VND30 million ($1,440) each.

There are 11 Vietnamese athletes who will compete in swimming, athletics and weightlifting events at the Games.

The Paralympic Games will take place in London from August 29 to September 9.-VNS
