VN volleyballers in last sixteen

Vietnamese women volleyball players progressed to the 1/16 round at the third Asian Beach Games on Thursday in Haiyang, China.

Nguyen Thi Tiep and Phan Thi Cam Hong easily defeated opponents from Sri Lanka 21-15, 21-17 to progress. They will play against Sri Lanka's Geethika Gunawardana and Thakshila Gunasinghe in the next round.

Meanwhile, Do Hong Loan and Nguyen Thi Thu Ha lost 15-21, 21-17, 7-15 to Ayu Cahyaning and Juliana Dhita from Indonesia. However, the pair will still advance to the next round after their second place in the qualifiers. They will next compete against Indonesians Dini Jasita Putu Utami and Wijayanti Fitri.-VNS
