Coal and Minerals win tourney

A 1-0 win over HCM City in the last round of the national women's football championships on Monday helped Viet Nam Coal and Minerals come out on top of the tournament.

At Phu Ly Stadium in Ha Nam Province, HCM City players concentrated on attacking in two touch lines while Viet Nam Coal and Minerals footballers defended and also counter attacked their rivals. Nevertheless, they did not score in the first half.

The second half was played out similarly, but Viet Nam Coal and Minerals turned one opportunity into a goal. In the 60th minute, 2011 Silver Ball awardee Le Thi Thuong headed the ball into the HCM City's net. During the remaining time, HCM City footballers attacked but failed to score a goal.

With 20 points after 10 matches, Viet Nam Coal and Minerals are the champions of the tourney early in this season, although there are two matches left. Thai Nguyen Steel and Iron competed against Ha Noi 2 yesterday and Phong Phu Ha Nam meet Ha Noi 1 today.-VNS
