Teams gear up for Asian taekwondo champs

HA NOI - Thirty four nations and territories are gearing up for the four Asian taekwondo tournaments which will take place in HCM City from May 4-11.

Teams will compete in the first Asian Juniors Taekwondo Poomsae Championships on May 4, the second Asian Taekwondo Poomsae Championships on May 5, the sixth Asian Junior Taekwondo Championships on May 6-8 and the 20th Asian Taekwondo Championships on May 9-11.

According to Truong Ngoc De, deputy chairman and general secretary of the Viet Nam Taekwondo Federation, it would be the largest taekwondo sporting event ever held in Viet Nam with the representation of officials of Asian and World taekwondo federations.

De added that the results would be updated hourly on the website of the world federation and the opening ceremony, semi-final and final matches would be broadcast live. - VNS
