Minh to compete at Malaysia Open

Nguyen Tien Minh will have no time to think about his humiliating Asian Championships loss as he heads to Johor Bahru for the Malaysia Open Grand Prix Gold in early May.

The Vietnamese world number 10 has been seeded second behind host rival Lee Chong Wei who tops the Badminton World Federation table.

According to the draw, the top two seeds have received first round byes, and are expected to meet each other in the final. In his first game, Minh will play the winner of the match between Andre Marteen of Indonesia and Anand Pawar of India.

At the Asian Championships last week, Minh was defeated 23-21, 5-21, 21-17 by Hong Kong's Yun Hu who is ranked lower than him.– VNS
