Viet Nam to compete in Asian Davis Cup

HA NOI – Viet Nam will be sending a team to the Davis Cup (Asia/Oceania Group 3) in Tehran, Iran.

The tournament begins on Monday.

The team includes Ly Hoang Nam (15), Nguyen Hoang Thien (17), Ho Huynh Dan Mach (17) and Tran Hoang Anh Khoa (22).

Viet Nam will play Iran, Kuwait, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Oman, Syria, Kyrgyztan.

The eight teams will be split into two pools of four. The top two nations will advance to the promotion pool.

In 2004, Viet Nam hosted the Davis Cup for the first time. It failed to gain admission to Group 2 after finishing third behind Kazakhstan and Pacific Oceania. – VNS
